30 year old Alim Hossain, Auto Rickshaw Driver of Halishahar, Chittagong, Bangladesh was suffering for the longest time from his Right Sided Inguinal Hernia. He was suffering from the most serious complication of an inguinal hernia where a loop of intestine became trapped in the weak point in the abdominal wall . This did obstruct his bowel, leading to severe pain, nausea, vomiting and the inability to have a regular bowel movement. In this stage he needed a surgery very badly. On October 14th of 2010 from the financial support of a nonprofit organization, Touching Souls International, he was able to have his complementary Herniotomy with Herniorraphy in Nurture General Hospital. The surgery was performed by Surgeon, Dr. Kashem and Anesthesiologist, Dr. Kawsar Ahmed. Alim was discharged from the hospital on October 18th, 2010. It was a successful operation. Wound healing was satisfactory.
In many people, the abdominal wall weakness that leads to an inguinal hernia occurs at birth when the abdominal lining (peritoneum) doesn’t close properly. Other inguinal hernias develop later in life when muscles weaken or deteriorate due to factors such as aging, strenuous physical activity or coughing that accompanies smoking.
Touching Souls International, a nonprofit organization provides 12 free surgical operations per month on Hydrosil, Hernia, Piles, Tumor, Clubfoot and Hysterectomy at Nurture General Hospital by hired Surgeons & Anesthetists and Nurture’s operation theater, Hospital facilities, Nurses & other paramedics and free beds.
