Education in rural Bangladesh is lagging far behind. Most children in these rural villages have no access to education; as a result they become trapped in low-skilled, low-paid labor that leads them further into the cycle of poverty. A study has shown that around 59 million children between the age of 6 to14 years do not attend school in this country and around 4.9 million children between the age of 5 to 15 are engaged in child labor. Children in remote areas of Bangladesh still face insufficient access to health and education facilities. In a country where hunger, clothing and shelter are issues that need instant attention, books are not always given that priority. Children are not given that scope to encourage their dream of holding a pen or reading a book. They fight for their existence and face the challenges of day to day life.
Children are the future of a country and they are also the present. Education is the only method to empower children. Empowering lives through education pushes them towards better future. Education can empower a child with lifetime skills, build his or her character, inculcate values and teach them to become responsible members of the society. Children should be educated to become worthy citizens of the society. Education can provide them with the knowledge, skill and power to create their own path to success and self-realization. Without education, they might not be able to face the challenges that life might throw up at them. Educating and empowering children is very important to overcome the cycle of poverty. With good health, nutrition and education underprivileged children can become strong in mind, body and spirit and can bring about durable changes for themselves, their families and their communities. Children are the key change representatives of the society and make the world a better place for living. All they need is strong hands to support and encourage them.
It is said that only those people who dream, can make it a reality. In 2003, this nonprofit organization that always wanted to help such under-privileged gave shape to their dreams to help the poor and needy across Bangladesh. Touching Souls International exists to help the deprived people in rural Bangladesh with different charity projects, by empowering them socially, educationally and economically through education, health camps and social awareness programs. This is where Touching Souls International has exceeded all expectation. The education programs provided by Touching Souls International are helping the underprivileged community living in this country improve their conditions and gradually wipe off the basic cause of poverty.
