Touching Souls International, which has been active in charity and health projects in Bangladesh, recently distributed winter clothing in Bangladesh. On January 7th in a small event organized with the motive of helping the poor and homeless, Touching Souls International distributed winter clothes for approximately one thousand people in Sirajdikhan, Munshigonj. The event was organized at the Kushumpur Junior High School where TSI volunteers distributed packages of winter clothes to the needy people.
In a following event Touching Souls International distributed blankets to 225 people of 21 villages of Kishoreganj on January 11. The beneficiaries included mainly the poorest who do not have winter clothing to fight the bitter cold, most of whom do not have access to any kind of government help. The winter clothes distribution program has generated huge enthusiasm among the philanthropists who have been helping the nonprofit organization in its entire endeavor.
There was huge enthusiasm among the poor people of both these areas toward this charity event. This event was carried out in a bid to support the people’s fight against the harsh climate this season in Kishoreganj and Munshigonj, where Touching Souls International has already carried out a lot of charity work.
Touching Souls International, a New York based International nonprofit organization, has been engaged in Bangladesh in some of the most backward provinces in the country. They have been providing charity in health, education and safe environment for the economically disadvantaged. It has become one of the saviors in the eyes of the masses in these backward regions. The hard work lent by the Touching Souls International volunteers over these years has resulted in huge enthusiasm among the people.
Touching Souls International needs the support of philanthropists from all over the world whose generosity will help it in carrying out projects for the poorest of the poor. It was a family run charity organization for the better part of the last 25 years till officially becoming an organization in June 2009 in New York. Only in year 2010, they got 25% donation from outside donors, 75% of their expenses was carried out by board members and their close families. Touching Souls International as an organization is in its infancy but is taking giant strides. It recently got the 501(C)(3) Tax Exempt status from the IRS.
Touching Souls International conducts its projects in areas which remain untouched from government sponsored health and charity schemes. Apart from running free medical camps this non profit organization has also been helping in community development and self-development programs. It is offering journalism fellowships, scholarships to meritorious students, running 2 schools( one for 225 village kids and another one for 130 slum kids), and training for doctors in palliative care. It has also been running arsenic awareness programs regularly. A high percentage of arsenic in drinking water is threatening close to one-third of Bangladesh’s population.
