Today, July 18th, 2010, we had our eye camp in Boro Chouna Bazar, PS Sakhipur, Tangail, Bangladesh. About 800 people were screened for their cataract. 300 patients got their free eye medications. 43 patients were selected for cataract removal surgery. These patients have been taken to BNBS Mymensingh Eye Hospital for their cataract surgery. On July 20th, after their cataract removal surgery they will be brought back to their original Home Office. All the expenses for this purpose are provided by a New York based nonprofit organization, Touching Souls International These eye camps are the ongoing project of Touching Souls International in "Sight Restoration and Blindness Prevention Project". These eye camps are done in different districts of Bangladesh. For most of the Bangladeshis, cataract removal surgery is not affordable. So whoever becomes cataract blind most of them stays blind for the rest of their life, becoming burden for their family and society. The goal of Touching Souls International is to prevent curable blindness from cataract.
