It is a fact recognized by the government and the civil society that thousands of children are routinely denied their basic human rights in a developing country like Bangladesh. There are many schemes that promise to protect the rights of the child but they are all affected by the acute difficulty that arises in their proper implementation. Thousands of children remain deprived of education and are forced to work long hours under extremely perilous conditions. Many of them languish in inhuman conditions in slums without proper hygiene or sanitation facilities.
Children are the future of any civilized society and it is necessary to ensure their physical and mental well being to ensure a healthy and intellectual society in the future. Some nonprofit organizations offer programs in resolving these issues and are therefore taking major initiatives to resolve the problem at grassroots level. Several programs have been chalked out to create the right atmosphere for the socio-physiological development of women and children so that they can enjoy a life that is qualitatively better.
Very often, young children including minors of the family are forced to take up work for sheer survival. Infants are therefore left unattended or in the custody of their siblings. This is at the cost of their welfare and schooling. Most of the children living under such conditions lose their childhood rights, are completely neglected and left to live off the streets. Most of the times mothers are left to raise the children themselves single handedly without the support of male members. In such instances, they have to take care of the child and also carry out their daily work to be able to survive.
Education is the only way to progress in the society and the nonprofit organization, Touching Souls International has taken up the cause of education in Bangladesh. It is running two schools one for the kids in village and one of those living in slums. In these schools more than 400 children are receiving quality education which will help them in realizing their dreams and lift themselves and their families from the struggle due to poverty and illiteracy. Apart from running these schools the charity organization is also offering scholarships to meritorious students whose educational career is threatened by poverty or orphanage
