By giving the opportunity of education to village and slum kids, we can give them a chance to become productive members of society. These students can perform just as well as other students who come from higher classes in society. Through education we can change ourselves, society and the world. Education, especially education for children, will lead to a better world. Kids need to understand ethics, empathy, basic rights and freedoms, compassion, and responsibility. By letting them discover their creativity and encouraging them to find what they like and are good at, they can become more productive members of our society.
To improve the status of the poor and voiceless people Touching Souls International, a nonprofit organization, runs 2 schools for children. One in the poor urban areas around Halishahar, Chittagong serves 130 atudents while the school in the village of Banail, Kishoregonj educates 225 students. In these 2 schools by Touching Souls International, they teach the full, standard curriculum to children who might not otherwise see the inside of a classroom, with impressive results. Equally important, the schools build an “end-to-end” environment that supports learning, offering lunch every day, health-care and family support.
The parents of these children cannot afford to send them to proper schools, since they earn a small amount of money, most of which is spent on food. Nurture and Touching Souls International has made their dreams of going to school come true by providing them with free education, along with stationery and books, which are also complimentary.
The goal of Touching Souls International, is to provide better education for the village and slum kids who are the most neglected in a developing country like Bangladesh. And can stop the child labor and give them a fair chance to be a productive part of society. Sometimes these kids might even be getting their education from a teacher who is paralyzed from a spinal cord injury who is also receiving free treatment from the Nurture Hospital of the Paralyzed and financed by the nonprofit organization, Touching Souls International. But these neglected kids do not mind that. As long as they are getting an education, they are happy..
