Touching Souls International is running a project for the rehabilitation of people who are paralyzed in partnership with Nurture Center for disabled and paralyzed in suburban coastal area of North Halishahar, Chittagong, Bangladesh. The 80 bed hospital for the paralyzed is in operation without an elevator. Often, even a small spinal cord fracture can lead to a life threatening situation if not treated on time. In poverty struck families these patients become a liability to their families and to society.
In Bangladesh few people are able to afford access to the help they need from a physiotherapist when they require a treatment plan for paralysis. Nurture and Touching Souls International has been educating people and teaching them the physical therapies which can help people get the treatment free of cost. They are running the hospital , where disadvantaged patient gets free treatment of spinal cord injury, brain injury, spinal cord fracture and physical therapies. With the help of an elevator these patients could be treated in a better way.
Touching Souls International is also funding for palliative care for those that are nearing the end of their lives. This caters to the needy brain injury patients along with cancer patients, progressive neurological diseases, end stage cardiac and respiratory diseases.
The nonprofit has been providing artificial limbs among people who cannot afford them. These limbs are recommended by the expert doctors who provide treatment to the patients.
Apart from the program aimed at rehabilitation of the paralyzed, Touching Souls International which is a New York based International non profit organization providing charity in health, education and safe environment for economically disadvantaged. It provides free cataract removal surgery, cleft lip surgery, club foot surgery, train doctors in palliative care, maternal health, child health, scholarships, self reliant program, schools, arsenic awareness in drinking water, feed hungry and home for homeless.
