The three day palliative care training came to an end on the 28th of June, 2011. Yet another success added to the cap of Touching Souls International. We had started this health program with an aim to help those who have almost reached the end of their lives. Our mission was to train the young doctors , pharmacy students and community volunteers and make them the support of these bedridden people. These sick people are also aware of the fact that their days are numbered. What they need is comfort care and words of love and encouragement in their last days. What else could have been a better job for the young pharmacy students? They were getting an opportunity to add life to the numbered days of these ailing people.
The three days health program was scheduled in such a way that the students had literally got a chance to lead the life of professional doctors. The first day had started with discussions on what palliative care is all about. It was followed by the students confronting with real life situations where they had to face ailing patients. The third day saw discussions on ethical issues that create controversy in the initiatives of palliative care, significance of nursing in palliative care and even home care service and importance of volunteers in the service.
We would like to thank the efficient and talented speakers of this show who have contributed to its success. We owe our success to Prof. Dr. Nezamuddin Ahmed, Dr. Farzana Khan, Dr. A.H.M. Mostak Anwar and many more for teaching the students the importance of palliative care. It was a great achievement for the young students to have acquainted themselves with such eminent personalities. They were very keen to work with Touching Souls International and play their part as responsible individuals of the country.
